Emma Sarpaniemi’s Two Ways to Carry a Cauliflower is a series of staged photographs depicting women discussing their portraits. Her aesthetic distances itself from the so-called male gaze and is defined by playful scenery and fashion. Sarpaniemi challenges the viewer to go beyond the seemingly naive impression and question well-known tropes of representing femininity.
